  • 2 oz spiced bourbon
  • 0.75 oz honey or maple syrup
  • 1 cinnamon stick cinnamon stick
  • a few dashes bitters (Angostura or orange)
  • 3 oz club soda or sparkling water
  • ice chunks of ice
  • 1 slice citrus slice (lemon or orange) for garnish
  • 1 cinnamon stick additional cinnamon stick for garnish

Method
 

  1. Juice the citrus fruits until you have about 1 oz of fresh juice, then set aside.
  2. Place the cinnamon stick into the shaker and gently muddle it for about 5 seconds to release its warm aroma.
  3. Add the bourbon, honey or maple syrup, citrus juice, and bitters to the shaker.
  4. Fill the shaker halfway with ice chunks and shake vigorously for 15 seconds, creating a frothy, chilled mixture.
  5. Strain the mixture into a glass filled with fresh ice, using a strainer to keep out any cinnamon bits or pulp.
  6. Top off the drink with a splash of club soda or sparkling water to add a shimmering, bubbly finish.
  7. Garnish with a citrus slice and a cinnamon stick for aroma and visual appeal.
