Ingredients

  • 6 slices Hawaiian rolls buttery and soft
  • 12 oz smoked ham slices preferably honey-glazed or smoked
  • 1 cup pineapple slices fresh preferred, canned drained
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese mild and melty
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise for sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey adds sweetness
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce for tang and glaze
  • Optional sliced green onions or jalapeños for topping

Equipment

  • Baking dish or tray
  • Sharp Knife
  • Brush
  • Skillet or grill pan
  • Foil

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (355°F). Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally into top and bottom halves, keeping the whole set intact for assembly.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, and soy sauce to create a sweet-tangy glaze. Set aside.
  3. Lay the bottom halves of the buns in your baking dish. Brush the cut sides lightly with the prepared glaze to add flavor and moisture.
  4. Layer the ham slices evenly over the bottom buns, then brush the ham with a little more glaze for extra caramelization.
  5. Place pineapple slices over the ham, spreading them out to cover the surface. Sear the pineapple slices in a hot skillet for 2-3 minutes per side until they are golden and fragrant.
  6. Arrange the grilled pineapple slices on top of the ham, then lay slices of Swiss cheese over the pineapple for a melty finish.
  7. Replace the top buns, pressing down gently to compact the sliders. Brush the tops with the remaining glaze for added shine and flavor.
  8. Wrap the sliders tightly with foil and bake for 10–12 minutes until the cheese is melted and the flavors meld together.
  9. Remove from the oven, let rest for 2 minutes, then slice into individual sliders. Garnish with sliced green onions or jalapeños if desired, and serve hot.
