Ingredients

  • 2 fillets salmon fillets preferably skin-on
  • 2 tablespoons honey thick, good-quality honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 2 cloves garlic minced finely
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated, optional
  • 1 teaspoon cooking oil for greasing the basket
  • 1 lemon or lime citrus for finishing optional, for squeezing over before serving

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Brush or spoon for glazing
  • Tongs or spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the glaze by whisking together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small bowl until well combined.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels, then lightly brush or drizzle with a little oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Carefully slide the salmon fillets into the air fryer basket, skin-side down if skin is on, leaving space between each piece.
  5. Brush a thin layer of the honey soy glaze over the top of each fillet, focusing on coating evenly but avoiding excess pooling.
  6. Cook the salmon in the air fryer for 8 to 10 minutes, until the glaze bubbles and the top develops a crispy, caramelized crust. Check doneness by gently pressing the fillet; it should flake easily with a fork.
  7. Halfway through cooking, open the air fryer and brush another light layer of glaze onto the fillets for extra flavor and shine.
  8. Once cooked, carefully remove the salmon with tongs or a spatula and place on a serving plate.
  9. Squeeze fresh lemon or lime over the top just before serving for a bright, citrusy finish.
  10. Serve immediately, enjoying the crispy, caramelized crust and tender, flaky flesh of the salmon.

Notes

For an extra touch, sprinkle chopped fresh herbs like cilantro or scallions before serving. Keep an eye on the glaze to prevent burning, especially if your air fryer runs hot.
