Ingredients

  • 4 cups water preferably filtered
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree or small pumpkin pieces adds depth to the aroma
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon brings warmth and spice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves adds a spicy note
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg essential for pumpkin spice flavor
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for added warmth
  • Optional orange peels or cranberries for extra seasonal aroma

Equipment

  • Saucepan or small pot
  • Lid
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Method

  1. Pour water into a saucepan and place it on the stove over medium heat.
  2. Add pumpkin puree (or small pumpkin pieces if using fresh) to the water, stirring gently to combine.
  3. Drop in the cinnamon sticks or sprinkle ground cinnamon, along with the ground cloves and nutmeg, allowing the spices to become fragrant and bloom into the mixture.
  4. Stir in a splash of vanilla extract and, if desired, add orange peels or cranberries for extra seasonal scent and color.
  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, reducing the heat to low. Cover with a lid and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes, allowing the aroma to fully develop.
  6. Occasionally lift the lid to let fresh air in and stir gently to prevent anything from sticking to the bottom.
  7. Once the mixture has simmered and smells rich with pumpkin spice, turn off the heat and remove the cinnamon sticks or spices if preferred.
  8. Keep the mixture warm on low heat or transfer to a small slow cooker to enjoy the inviting autumnal aroma throughout your space.

Notes

Monitor the water level regularly to prevent boiling dry. Adjust the spices and add extras like orange peels for seasonal variation. Enjoy your fragrant home all season long!
