Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water filtered or spring water preferred
  • 1 to taste cinnamon sticks use a larger piece for a strong aroma
  • 8 cardamom pods green cardamom pods crushed slightly to release flavor
  • 4 cloves whole cloves adds warm, spicy aroma
  • 1 inch fresh ginger peeled and sliced thin

Method
 

  1. Place water in a saucepan and add the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and sliced ginger.
    2 cups water, 1 to taste cinnamon sticks, 8 cardamom pods green cardamom pods, 4 cloves whole cloves, 1 inch fresh ginger
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, allowing the spices to release their fragrant oils.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for about 10 to 15 minutes, watching for the mixture to deepen in color and aroma.
  4. Stir the mixture occasionally with a wooden spoon; you'll notice the water taking on a rich, aromatic hue, and the spices wilting slightly.
  5. Once fragrant and flavorful, strain the infusion through a fine sieve into cups or a teapot, removing the whole spices and ginger slices.
  6. Serve hot to enjoy the warm, layered aroma filling the room, perfect on chilly days or when you need a comforting scent.
