- Cut the watermelon into small chunks using a knife and cutting board, ensuring all seeds are removed.
- Place the watermelon chunks into the blender, and add the granulated sugar. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and uniform, approximately 30-45 seconds, with no large fruit pieces visible.
- Pour the pureed watermelon through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher, pressing gently to extract as much juice as possible while removing pulp and fibrous bits.
- Stir the strained watermelon juice with the freshly squeezed lemon juice in the pitcher, adjusting sweetness if desired by adding more sugar or water.
- Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. Pour into glasses over ice or dilute with additional cold water or ice as preferred.
Notes
For a more vivid color and flavor, refrigerate the watermelon ahead of time. Adjust sweetness and tartness by varying the amount of lemon juice and sugar to taste.
