Watermelon Lime Juice

This simple beverage involves extracting fresh juice from ripe watermelons, then mixing it with freshly squeezed lime juice. The final product is a chilled, pulpy liquid with a vibrant pink color and a tangy, sweet flavor profile, served over ice or directly from the melon.

Ingredients

  • 1 large watermelon seeded, ripe
  • 2 limes lime for juicing
  • to taste sugar or honey optional for extra sweetness
  • ice ice cubes optional, for serving

Equipment

  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Blender
  • Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
  • Large Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Use a sharp knife and cutting board to cut the watermelon into manageable chunks, removing the rind. Ensure the flesh is seedless or carefully remove seeds.
  2. Transfer the watermelon chunks into a blender and blend on high speed until completely smooth, about 30 seconds.
  3. Place a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a large mixing bowl, then pour the blended watermelon through it. Use a spatula or spoon to press the juice through, extracting as much liquid as possible and discarding the solids.
  4. Squeeze fresh juice from the limes into the watermelon juice. Stir well to combine. Taste and add sugar or honey if desired, stirring until fully dissolved.
  5. Chill the juice in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes or until cold. Serve over ice if desired, garnished with lime wedges or mint leaves for presentation.

Notes

Ensure the watermelon is fully ripe for the best flavor. Adjust sweetness and lime content to taste.
